Colored Background Headshots: from a Top Toronto Start Up and Venture Capital Headshot Photographer
A few months ago I posted a sample of portraits I shot on vibrantly colored backdrops on my Instagram account and website. As you’ll see, color was a major player that added a huge pop of personality to these portraits and worked well for my already colorful subjects.
Take a look at these same images on neutral backgrounds and you’ll quickly see the effectiveness the role of color played in this series of portraits.
Color backgrounds are not for everyone. In this particular case, these are creative types, models, actors and artists - all of whom were seeking a playful portrait to suit their style.
While I had a lot of fun shooting and editing this series, I also recognize the time and place for saturated images like these vs. something more neutral or reserved.
If you’re not ready to dive into the deep end of the color wheel during your shoot, consider the colors of your brand or organization and how we can work subtle hints of that scheme into our shoot. Perhaps utilizing collateral or props that are on-brand is something you’d like to explore?
If you’re ready to go full steam ahead with a solid color backdrop, sweet! Note that I can modify backdrops to suit a particular pantone color that’s in line with your brand. If full color is the route you choose, I am more than happy to suggest colors, patterns or prints to avoid during a shoot that could potentially clash or blend with our backdrop.
There is a lot of science behind the psychology of color so before you commit to any color, be it in your wardrobe or as part of our set, be sure to know what the colors your wearing say about yourself and your brand!
