Hackbright Academy Engineering School for Women - san francisco event photographer
I recently had the opportunity to photograph this whip smart group of women for their app presentations and their potential employer interviews. Wow! Was I blown away. These women were on the cusp of graduating from their intense 12 week bootcamp. They were happy, they were confident, they were ready to take silicon valley by storm.
The apps that these women were creating were innovative and something there was a need for. They created anything from a service to link up with friends schedules, pet adoption, exercise plans, to a full wardrobe stylist closet organizer. Upon graduation a red hooded sweatshirt is given in lieu of a cap and gown. This is a fantastic idea as after they move on they will always be able to recognize their peers in San Francisco or the world by their sweatshirts. After the presentations the students then had a speed dating style interview with potential employers from around the bay area which included; facebook, google, uber, lyft, skype.
The school is taught by an incredible staff of brilliant educators, some of them even graduated from Hackbright and are so passionate about the school they want to teach the next generations. What I love about Hackbright Academy is just that, it is a group of women supporting and encouraging women. When you tour the school you can feel all the positive and desire for each other to succeed from the signage on the walls, to how the classes are taught. It truly is incredible to see how uplifting it can be for women to be in a school together and know that there are others like them preparing for the workforce of a male dominated industry.
